OME Spacebar is the first place where I noticed baristas tasting almost every shot for consistency. That tells you a lot.

The amount of gear also makes it obvious they are really into coffee gear and really into the craft. It does not feel performative. It feels like people who care about making the cup better.

What probably seals the deal is that the owners, Joe and Shen, are super engaging. Shen bakes all the cakes by hand. The coffee bean selection is excellent and always on rotation. They are really fun to chat with, and the entire staff is excellent.

On top of all that, they brew some excellent cups of coffee.

I always try to go when I am in Penang. It is probably my favorite coffee shop in the entire world across all countries, which is a ridiculous thing to say and also how I feel.
